URBAN GUAVA
The house is part of a group of semi-detached houses in Pinheiros, São Paulo. The restoration project took the original volume of the group as a starting point. The premise of preserving the existing guava tree suggested the creation of an internal courtyard. The spatial organization was achieved by defining a continuous circulation between the staircase and the walkway in a metal structure. The proposal leaves the bricks and the original roof visible, shifts the level of the slab and increases the ceiling height at the main entrance, through the use of precast concrete slabs. The street façade is revealed in two distinct panels, one in translucent glass with permeability and visual connection with the internal courtyard, the other soft, through the use of polycarbonate sheets, revealing the internal volumes and shadows, subtle contours that guarantee a certain privacy to the mezzanine. The furniture, in turn, was custom-designed to ensure the greatest flexibility of use, with interlocking pieces that can be connected to each other and form multiple compositions.
